Denmark has welcomed a large number of refugees due to the war in Ukraine and the need for humanitarian action will be enormous. The Danish Red Cross wants all refugees to have a safe, meaningful, and dignified stay in Denmark. Across the country we stand ready to assist refugees in settling into their new community – whether it being for shorter and longer periods. Our services are available for all newly arrived refugees despite where they might come from.

Language training and networking cafes
The Danish Red Cross provides language training for children as well as adults both online and physically in our ”language cafes” across Denmark. Our volunteers practice Danish with refugees and can assist with homework associated with attending a language center, VUC or higher education. The Danish Red Cross also runs ”networking cafes”, where you can meet other refugees and your children can play in a safe space. Call our support line +45 3529 9660 for information about where to find your closest language or networking cafe. The phones are open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm.
We provide online language training at sprogland.dk. You can book appointments with a voluntary language trainer from the Danish Red Cross and practice e.g. basic Danish, pronunciation of words or prepare for an upcoming language test
