How the Red Cross Asylum Department is organised

The Red Cross Asylum Department is an emergency response organisation, the size of which constantly reflects the number of asylum seekers arriving in the country and the number of centres operated by the Red Cross. During some periods, we have 600 employees over the whole country, during others the number is 850. The assignment itself and the financial aspects are defined by a contract which the Red Cross enters into with the Danish Immigration Service on a par with other operators, and in this way the finances are held separate from the rest of Red Cross Denmark. The organisation of the work in the asylum centres is flexible, and the administration should support the work performed by the staff in the various centres.
