Our economy

The funds are spent for:

45 % to developing the poor countries
Most of the money is spend creating development and prosperity in the poor countries in the world. We have focus on strengthening societies and people, so they will be able to take care of themselves – and better resist when a new catastrophe hits. As an example, the money is spent for health clinics, wells and securing coastlines.

30 % to catastrophe and aid work
We spend a lot of the collected funds to help people who are being hit by wars, crisis or catastrophes. If the money is not being sent immediately, they are being put in our catastrophe fund. It ensures that funds are always present so we can react immediately to the next tsunami, earthquake or when a war is emerging.

10 % to lonely and exposed in Denmark
We spend money supporting the giant social work as volunteers in Red Cross are performing in Denmark. Amongst other is the deathbed watch, which visits people dying alone, support for children, whose parents are in jail and help for children who has escaped to Denmark without their parents.

10 % for administration and development
We use funds to secure our organisation is working and constantly works on helping people in distress. We cannot send the funds uncut without every year spending funds on it equipment, recruiting skilled workers and securing the economy. We spend approximately 7 % on administration and 3 % on developing new and more intelligent ways to secure the help for the most vulnerable.

A part of our funds are used for first aid courses in Denmark. The area is also a business area for us, which every year brings us profit, which we use for bettering our teaching.

2 % to information
We spend a small percentage of our funds for inform the Danish people about our aid work in Denmark and in the outside world.

Besides the aforementioned areas Red Cross in Denmark also runs asylum centres. It is a task we are safeguarding for the state and which covers approximately half of our turnover.
